Film wardrobe — not personal ownership. In The Adam Project (2022), the Speedmaster isn’t set dressing — it’s plot. A previous-generation Moonwatch, calibre 1861, passes between Reynolds and Walker Scobell as a time-traveling heirloom from their late father (Mark Ruffalo’s character wears one too). Hodinkee interviewed the film’s prop master, who confirmed the watch was Reynolds’ own pitch to the director, that OMEGA supplied four watches for the production, and that one stunt piece had a frozen mechanism.
That last detail is the collector’s favorite: a Speedmaster with a dead movement, worn on camera as a prop — the one time a non-running Moonwatch is exactly correct. The dial details (the “flat A” era printing) read as the 1861 generation, the hesalite Moonwatch as it existed before the 3861 update.
Reynolds’ personal Moonshine Gold Moonwatch from the 2022 Met Gala is a separate story — this entry is the film’s watch, and it earns its place on the strength of the prop master’s own account.
